Carol reported on an extremely successful (not just $’s) Quilter’s Day Out

The church’s ladies working in the kitchen covered their expenses twice! They have already requested to be a part of next year’s event.
Lots of positive feedback
Thoughts for next year:
Use some of the funds to make our own quilt racks
Upgrade the PA system
Have available the space on the other side of the kitchen for demos and vendors
Different configuration for registration, gift bag area
Julia G suggested we ask for donations of canned food along with registration for next year.
Barbara P said that someone from Donna Sharp’s organization would like to be a vendor next year. Carol has several others.
Lisa’s article in the paper was well received. Several guests attended because they saw the article.

Carol welcomed visitors and explained to them what our guild is about.

Committee reports:

Charity quilt – Anne reported we are still gifting quilts to The Center for Women and Families and St. Elizabeth’s, both in New Albany. Becky and Vivian are quilting two finished tops that Anne sent home with them.

Activity of the Month – Those who brought pin cushions exchanged them. Next month is: bring up to two (2) spring themed fat quarters. Winner will take all!

Hospitality – Marie, Becky and Vivian brought goodies. Next meeting (April 22) is Janice, Mary and Elise

Demonstrations: Vivian demonstrated how to make a tissue holder. Very easy and cute! I will have copies at the next meeting if you need one. Can also scan and e-mail you copy.
Janice has volunteers for demos through May. If you would like to volunteer please let her know.

Challenge quilt: Diana H talked about this year’s challenge. If you are participating, quilts need to be done the end of August to be shown in the Edwardsville Quilt Show. Also go to http://www.alzquilts.org/ for the Alzheimer’s quilt challenge. Diana and Carol, both suggested signing up for Ami Simms newsletters. http://www.amisimms.com/amisblog.html

Membership Committee: Nancy’s table will be at the same spot from now on. Be sure to sign in when you arrive. Nancy was busy this month with all the visitors and new members!

Treasure: Maria reminded anyone who has receipts from QDO to get them to her for reimbursement.

Upcoming events - Barbara T added several new events to our list (see details at end of minutes)

Jeannie, as a board member of the Friends of the Library asked that the guild sponsor a basket for the silent auction held Saturday, November 13th. Two very nice quilting books were donated to the group recently. It was decided that they would be presented in a basket with other quilting items for auction. Donna G said she would donate the basket. Donna and Ann W put the motion on the table and it was decided as a guild we would sponsor the basket. Please bring your items to donate to a guild meeting.
There will be birthday cake and champagne at the silent auction! Friends of the Library have purchased the new book drop off, bought reference material for the job search area, bought new computers and furniture and sponsors the summer reading program.

Sharon K talked about working with the homeless and providing blankets, hats, etc. We will get more detail from Sharon for next meeting.

Show and tell – Lots of projects to show. Lots of busy people!
