It was decided that we should pursue building our own quilt racks for next year's QDO since Edwardsville is unwilling to sell their racks and we don't know if they will be available for our use next year. Janice B agreed to price various materials and her husband (an engineer) will explore various types of racks and present to the guild at a later time their recommendations.

A lengthy discussion of how much to donate to the Women's Connections Group at the Church was held and ultimately it was decided to donate ---- now with the understanding that we would hold another discussion of additional donations later in the year once we know how much money would be leftover after we purchase and build quilt racks for next year's QDO. The group will use the money to assist women in need and to reduce the cost of members attending a church retreat held every other year.

Activity of the Month - Sharon K
Sally A won the drawing for the Spring Fat Quarters for May.

Round Robin - Since we had so many interested in started a new Round Robin, Janice B. also explained to the group how a round robin works. It was decided that people who wanted to participate would bring their beginning block to the next meeting. We agreed to limit the initial block to 12 inches or less. Each participant should provide a storage box or shoe box of some sort containing their block, a journal, and a selection of fabric (optional) to the May meeting. (Round robin handout attached)

Sharon handed out brown paper lunch bags for the AOM which should be brought back in May with fabric and possibly a pattern for a small item (or you can let the person who receives the bag come up with an idea for a small item). The bags will be exchanged at the May meeting and each participant will make the item requested in the bag and exchange the completed items at the June Meeting.

Demonstration - Janice B demonstrated a technique for cutting Setting triangles with the grain of the fabric to prevent stretching the material. She also provided a wonderful handout that can be used to determine the size to cut for setting triangles. Love it when someone else does all of the math for you.

Special Projects - Jeanne K
Several people brought items to donate for the library basket. Still need fat quarters, notions, books, etc... to be placed in the basket and auctioned by the Friends of the Library.

Office of the Prez - Carol F
An anonymous survey was sent via e-mail to all members and hard copies were distributed at the meeting to determine if changes need to be made to the guild and our procedures. 21 out of 51 have been turned in. We would like to hear from everyone so if you haven't filled one out, please mail your completed survey to Carol (address on the directory) without a return address if you wish to remain anonymous ASAP or bring it to the May meeting. Once all of the surveys are in, they will be reviewed and reported to the guild for any possible action. The members will vote on all changes.
